Walk-ins are welcome until 5:30 PM on weekdays, or you can book online.
Sign off on the estimate
The written retest estimate gets your OK before the inspection starts.

New report
It shows whether the car passed and lists any open safety recalls.
Give the car a little time
Disconnecting or replacing the battery resets the readiness monitors, and so does clearing codes. Many repairs do one or the other. A week or two of everyday driving usually lets the monitors finish, and coming back before then can waste a trip. Make sure the check engine light is off, too; with it on, a vehicle will not pass.
Retest pricing and terms
One discounted retest for the same vehicle at the same station within 30 calendar days of the original paid, failed inspection. The retest is $21.75; if the vehicle passes, the $8.25 state certificate brings the total to $30. If it fails again, the retest is $21.75. A completed inspection that fails because readiness monitors are not ready counts as the retest. An inspection we abort costs nothing and does not use the retest; the 30-day window still applies. Additional retests and returns after 30 days are charged at posted regular prices. Repairs are not included.
If the car fails again
It goes back to a test-and-repair or repair-only station of your choice. BAR's Auto Shop Locator will show you licensed stations nearby. The discounted retest is one visit, so the inspection after that work is at our posted regular price. Some emissions repairs may be covered by your manufacturer's warranty, and your owner's manual explains what's included.

What's the price of a retest?
The retest itself is $21.75. If the car passes, the $8.25 state certificate is added, for $30. It's one retest for the same car within 30 calendar days of its paid, failed inspection here.
I failed at a different station. Can I retest here?
Yes, we'll inspect it, and our STAR certification covers notices that require one. The $30 retest price is only for cars that failed a paid inspection at our station; a car that failed elsewhere pays the regular price on our coupon page.
How soon after the repair should I come?
Not until the monitors reset: allow a week or two of ordinary driving after a battery disconnect or cleared codes.
Is there a repair shop here?
No. We're test-only: smog checks, not emissions repairs.
